News : Increased
Capacity, Cleaner & Blue news
Increased Guillotining Capacity ...
In November, we installed a second guillotine, a Wohlenberg 115
and a Bauman Jogger. Our original guillotine has been moved into
Unit 7, where it is dedicated to trade guillotining work. The new
guillotine has been installed in Unit 5 and will serve the bindery
and folding machine as well as creating additional capacity for
Trade Guillotining which continues to be a very popular service
provided by our Company. Feedback
on 6pp and 8pp covers ...
In the summer newsletter we reported that we were looking for
work with 6pp or 8pp covers to complete final stage trials on
our Perfect Binding Machine. We can now report that we have successfully
carried out work with 6pp covers, however, we have had no offers
of 8pp work. The success of 6pp covers is subject to design and
materials used on the cover, so if you have any enquiries please
ring and discuss them with Frank or Julie, at the design stage
to ensure that we can produce them on our binder. Unfortunately,
we regret that the Tigra binder is not suitable for covers with
pockets or flaps.
Well loved cleaner hangs
up her dusters ...
This month our Company sees it’s first employee retire.
Jean Cavannagh leaves us to enjoy her retirement after celebrating
her 60th Birthday on the 17th December. As the Company’s
best ever "brewer upper", who is always decked with
a cheery smile, Jean will be sorely missed by everyone here at
Point Control. The Directors & Staff would like to thank her
for all her hard work and for the loyalty she has shown to the
Company since joining us. We wish her all the very best in her
retirement.
Outward Bound Team Building
Course
Finally, in the last issue we reported that our Staff & Directors
were booked onto an “Outward Bound Course” in October,
unfortunately this had to be postponed until Spring 2002 due to
the Foot and Mouth restrictions in Horton in Ribblesdale. A report
will of course follow!!
Haslingden FC Junior in trails
at Burnley FC ...
Thomas Berwick, has continued to develop his
football skills and is progressing successfully from Point Control
Sponsored Haslingden Juniors Under 7’s Football Team to
taking part in trials for the Pre – Centre of excellence
at Burnley Football Club. Thomas has been accepted to continue
training at Burnley and is also waiting to hear from Blackburn
Rovers. Scouts from other clubs have also shown an interest in
his footballing abilities. As yet, Thomas is too young to be officially
signed for the club, but appears to be making all the right moves
for a successful future. Who knows in years to come he may follow
in one of his football hero’s footsteps and become the new
David Beckham. Staff here at Point Control are thrilled with Thomas’s
progress which has caused endless debate amongst rival Rovers
and Claret supporters on the shop floor. Julie is now hoping that
he may get asked to take part in trials at her beloved Manchester
City - as we all know they need all the help they can get. We
will keep you informed on the team's progress and are looking
forward to hearing more about their continued success in the coming
year.
